This is the first post of a new category I call “The Red Pill”, after the gelatin blob Keanu Reeves popped in The Matrix that began his journey into the “real world”. I created this because I feel we need to consider more than one perspective of any information that is presented to us via the media and other establishments, who like you and I are not immune to bias and self-delusions. It’s important to have an alternative viewpoint, to get the big picture.

One important thing to realize is that economics makes the world go round. Remember that the next time your doctor recommends you take on an expensive, completely unnecessary procedure or medication. Especially if your doctor drives a Ferrari and is two months behind on his payments. If you haven’t already read it, I highly recommend you invest in a copy of Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. It’s both highly entertaining and informative.

Meanwhile, for this first post, I’d like to take this opportunity to consider one common belief: That testing positive for HIV means you will develop AIDS. The jury is still out in this one, so if you test positive for HIV, don’t sell off the family estate and spend it on booze and hookers just yet.

Oh and speaking of different viewpoints, I know you were waiting for this (yes, YOU, Tim):

Rare alternate view of Sayaka Ando

I think I deserve some credit for this one. I mean, YOU try finding a picture of Sayaka Ando wearing more than 3cm of fabric. It’s a miracle!

And you’re welcome.
