Street Fighter Sunday And a Birthday

For the last 2 months or so I’ve been spending my Sunday afternoons beating up my friends. Over and over again. Really once you get past the initial inhibitions it’s a lot of fun.

The medium? Street Fighter IV. (I haven’t figured out what the large is.)

Besides myself, the Street Fighter Sunday Club as we call it (because The Loosely Acquainted Individuals Who Have Nothing Else Worth Doing On a Sunday Afternoon Other Than To Meet And Play Street Fighter IV in Jason’s Sparsely Decorated Room Club was taken) is made up of Jason, James, Julian, Adrian, Sean, Sook Lin, Joshua, Farah, Lordson, and San Yen whenever he’s not busy winning Kancil Awards, which means we only saw him once and it was probably a stunt double.

Recently out of extreme boredom we came up with mini tournaments to determine who is the Ultimate Champion.

My strong sense of modesty will not allow me to tell you that the winsome winner for two weeks running is in fact, me.

“Be Humble” is my motto, especially when everyone is staring you down after your 6th consecutive match win and are armed with analog sticks.

Last Sunday was a bit special. It was Jason’s birthday, so after beating him up in Street Fighter we took him to dinner for a birthday bash.

We were joined by a few of Jason’s other friends who were surprisingly reluctant to punch him in the crotch.

Jason was noticeably relieved. His previously unstoppable Dhalsim was flattened to a tosai today and any more humiliation would have put out the fire in his soul.

There was the usual birthday cake and horribly sung birthday song with the unusual birthday speech by Farah who must really, really like Jason as a friend to stand up and speak in front of a bunch of giggling goofballs.

Jason kills his cake, presumably revenge for his earlier defeats.

While the Dunhill man chills.

All in all, a most delightful Sunday.
